INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS AND DOORS

Instalation of windows is considered as one of the most difficult areas in construction and there are several reasons for this.

When choosing windows and doors the focus is usually on design, shape, color and price. Sometimes the importance of installing windows and doors is forgotten. However the thermo efficiency, safety and functionality of windows depend to a large extent on the correct installation of the windows.

Window manufacturing technologies are constantly developing to provide maximum protection against the weather conditions, street noise and more. If the windows are installed correctly, the highest level of comfort is ensured.

Mistakes in the installation of windows and doors can be very expensive - if the window is installed incorrectly, almost all the features of a quality product are lost.

It is important to secure the window in the box corectly. An airtight connection between the window and the wall is also important for maximum energy efficiency.

For all these reasons we recommend entrusting the installation of windows to professionals. It is best if both the production and assembly of windows are performed by one company thus ensuring the quality of both the product and the assembly.

Types of window assembling:

PVC Window assembly

Window assembly by securing the window in the box.

PVC Window assembly

Installation of windows taking the window to the insulation area.

SERVICE

PVC Window assembly

We offer post-warranty repair of windows and doors:

  • Replacement of sealing gum.
  • Replacement of glass panels.
  • Replacement of fittings.
  • Installation of burglary fittings.
  • Preventive measures - window adjustment, fittings lubrication.

CARE

PVC Window care

To keep the Roto fittings functioning smoothly and working properly, the moving parts must be lubricated regularly (at least once a year). Only oils that do not contain acids or resins should be used for lubrication.

Anti-burglary plates must be permanently lubricated. The condition of each screw must be checked regularly. Loose screws must be tightened.

SECURITY

PVC Window security

Do not place objects between the sash and the window frame.

PVC Window security

If the window can be accessed by small children or the mentally ill people, the sash must be secured with a lockable handle or an opening lock.

PVC Window security

Do not leave the sash opened during strong winds.

PVC Window security

Attention! Do not reach between the sash and the window frame when closing.

WINDOW INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

PVC Window assembly

Pallet layout scheme.

Before assembling the window, it is necessary to prepare the box or take out the old window. Make sure that the previously selected type of window fastening is possible.

Wooden or plastic wedges (pallets) are used for temporary fixing and leveling of the frame (both vertically and horizontally). The pallets must be made of hard wood or plastic. After leveling, it is also important to check the uniformity of the diagonal lengths, especially for the opening parts of the window.

After installing the PVC windows and filling in the foam, the leveling wedges on the sides of the window must be removed, but the load-bearing wedges (under the window) must be left. The window is fastened with mechanical fasteners (mounting brackets, dowels, screws).

PVC Window assembly

It is recommended to remove the sash from the opening parts of the window and, if necessary, from the non-opening parts of the glass panel.

To remove the sash open it, remove the upper "finger" of hinge downwards and lift the sash off the lower hinge.

To remove the glass panel, the glass fixing strips have been left unattached. If this is not the case a flat chisel must be used to lift the skirting (see picture).

The chisel must be used carefully not to damage the profile.

PVC Window assembly

The mechanical fastenings of the window and the minimum distances between them.

Mounting clamps, dowels or screws are placed 150 mm from the corners and so that the maximum distance between the clamps for aluminum windows does not exceed 700 mm.

Logu nostiprināšana:

  • Fastening the window with dowels it is necessary to make a 10 mm hole through the frame and after placing the window at the level also in the window column. When installing non-opening windows, as well as windows with non-opening parts, it is necessary to remove the glass panel (see drawing).
  • When fixing windows with special mounting brackets, it must be taken into account that they must be fixed in the grooves of the frame from the outside before placing the window in the box. The advantage of the mounting brackets is that it is possible to change the mounting location at the box by bending or turning the bracket as required (see picture).

Loga stiprināšana ar skavām ir ērtāka no montāžas viedokļa, taču ar tām ne vienmēr tiek nodrošināta pietiekama noturība pret loga izkustēšanos.

Tā, piemēram, lielu veramo logu eņģu pusi rekomendējam stiprināt ar dībeļiem. Durvis vēlams montēt tikai ar dībeļiem.

Montējot saliktas konstrukcijas (balkona bloki, logi un durvis ar armējošiem savienojumiem), atsevišķās konstrukciju daļas obligāti jāsaskrūvē savā starpā ar cauri ejošām skrūvēm (skat. zīm.).

After leveling and securing the window, the gaps between the window frame and the opening are filled in with foam. Wooden wedges used to level the window and according to the scheme are not load-bearing, must be removed. The window must be secured with mechanical fasteners.

Mounting foams designed for these purposes should be selected. It is advisable to consult the foam sellers about the suitability of the foam.

It should be remembered that winter foam must be used when applying heat-insulating foam at a temperature of "minus" degrees.

The excess foam must be cut off after the foam has hardened. It is necessary to seal the foam with silicone or alternative sealing materials from the outside to prevent it from losing its thermal insulation properties under the influence of moisture

INSTALLATION OF INNER AND EXTERNAL WINDOW SILLS

After assembling the window, the inner and only then the outer window sill is assembled.

The inner window sill is inserted into the window sill profile in the groove for mounting the window sill. Dry wood or plastic pallets are esed to support the window sill so that the inner window sill is level or inclined from 0.5 ° to 3 ° towards the inside of the room.

The gap between the wall and the window sill is filled with mounting foam or other thermal insulation material. If necessary, the internal window sills are additionally fastened with screws through the window sill profile.

External window sills are installed after the installation of internal window sills. The window sill must be inclined to the outer edge with an inclination of not less than 5 °. The outer window sill is screwed to the window sill profile from the outside of the window.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHETHER THE WINDOW IS INSTALLED CORECTLY?

When the new window is installed it is important to make sure that the work is done with quality. Otherwise, moisture and thermal insulation problems may occur over time.

No special tools or knowledge are required to ensure the quality of the assembly. You can do this yourself in five easy steps:

The window must press firmly against the frame.

If the window fits snugly in the closed position, the wind will not blow through the gaps. Place a sheet of paper between the window frame and the sash and close the window. If the window assembly is done corectly, the paper must be firmly presed. If it can be pulled out freely, it will be cold in the winter.

The window must be exactly in the middle of the frame.

The distance from each edge must not be less than 6mm. This ensures equal pressure on the rubbers, providing protection against wind and sound. You can make sure that the window is exactly in the middle of the frame by highlighting the window frame with a pencil when the window is in the closed position. When opening the window, you can measure the distance of the line from the edges, it must be equal to all edges.

The window frame must be flat.

The mounting foam must be laid evenly, otherwise the window frame may shift, creating small gaps. To make sure everything is in order, place a long ruler on the window frame and see if the ruler fits flat to the window frame.

The windowsill must not sound hollow.

The space under the window sill must be filled with mounting foam. You can see if this is done by knocking on the windowsill. If the foam under the window sill is not evenly filled in, the warm air will go out through this gap.

Open and close the window several times.

It must be easy to open and close the window. If it gets caught or seems loose, it is not installed properly.
